Hi, I’m Laura (She/Her) a felt florist based in the fabulous city of Derby with my wife and 2 cats, Simba and Rajah.

I believe life is too short to blend in, we were born to be individuals and stand out.

I love all things quirky and believe in making your own rules when it comes to your wedding. Breaking traditions and being your authentic self and I’m here to encourage you, my friend.

Boom Bridal was born when I married my wife. Getting married in October 2015 the wedding world was a very different place, especially for 2 women, and we wanted to create a fun twist on tradition to reflect that.

I didn’t want fresh flowers, I hate the thought of them going in the bin 2 days after your wedding, and the other flower alternatives were trying to be fresh flowers and if I’m honest, a bit boring.

So, being the crafty thing that I am, I created my own, and the rest they say is history.

My Motto

Sustainability is also important to me, did you know that the average UK wedding emits 14.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide?

To put that into perspective, that’s more than 23,000 miles in an average car!

This is why I plant one tree for each item I create for your wedding. One tree can help reduce your wedding emissions by an average of 1.5 tonnes.

As an alternative florist, I thought I’d give you something a bit different to your average florist’s bio, so I’ve racked my brain and thought of a few fun facts. And because I bloody love a list, I’ve separated them into what I think are the good and the not-so-good for your enjoyment.

The Sweet

  • I’m a fun-loving, rainbow-seeking, colour addict and my glass is always half full

  • my wardrobe is a fabric rainbow with the exception of 1 pair of black trousers and a black harry potter t-shirt!

  • Crafting and creating are my favourite happy places

  • I’m a big film fan. I love all things Disney, Harry Potter and LoTR to name a few

The Sour

  • Adding random song lyrics into sentences and putting them into conversations. For example, as Ceiline once sang “It’s all coming back to me now”

  • I love a musical…and I’m not sorry

  • You can normally hear me before you see me

  • I believe honesty is the best policy, which can sometimes get me into trouble
